Are you a student educator/librarian looking to gain experience performing storytimes and playing a pivotal role in a summer reading program? The Des Plaines Public Library is looking for two Summer Reading Club Outreach Interns for a ten week summer internship. Interns will plan and perform exciting storytimes for children ages 2-5 at their preschools and daycares and encourage them to participate in our summer reading program at their school.
This Internship begins the week of June 2nd and ends the week of August 4th.
DPPL is looking for a web-savvy leader to direct the content management and technical advancement of the library’s web presence. The ideal candidate has a passion for web development and will use that zeal to connect our users with the library’s products and services. You will maintain and expand DPPL’s newly redesigned website, develop and implement content strategies, connect user communities, train patrons and staff, and participate in strategic planning with IT, the Management Team and regional library groups. Presentation, collaboration and people skills are essential!
Responsible for daily housekeeping and routine building maintenance. Must have High School degree, one year custodial experience and valid Driver's License. Position is 20 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., with one half hour unpaid break. Flexibility of hours a plus. Part-time retirement and vacation benefits.
The Reference staff of the award-winning Des Plaines Public Library is a dynamic and hard-working team with big plans for the future. We now seek another team member with strong reference skills, strong customer service skills and an attitude that welcomes change. Candidates should have a fluency in computer skills and social media platforms. He or she should also have a background in instruction and be excited to create and teach various library classes. A MLIS or MLS from an accredited school is required.
