The Des Plaines Public Library is an equal opportunity employer.
Are you a whiz at creating and editing web content? Do you have experience shooting and editing videos using products like Premiere and Camtasia? Do you have a passion for social media and how it can help organizations reach users? Do you love public libraries? The award-winning Des Plaines Public Library is searching for a Web Services Assistant to join our team, and if you answered yes to these questions, it could be you!
Working under the Web Services Manager, you will collaborate with other departments to create new content for the library’s website, contribute to our social media channels, assist with creating documentation and tutorials related to the library’s products and services, and create and edit videos for the website and social media.
Are you an organized, detail-oriented person who wants everything put in its proper place and can quickly spot what is out of place? As a team player, our entry-level part-time position requires you to accurately and efficiently sort, inspect, arrange, move, lift and put away a variety of library materials. This is a year-round position in a fast-paced service oriented organization. Please include all previous experience including volunteer work on your application.
You love and recommend books and other materials for kids and young adults, finesse a database for just the right tidbit of information, plan and execute a perfectly organized program (all of which we would require of you here). But to do all these things with energy, passion, and a side of silly when it’s needed is what makes you well-suited for our busy and dynamic Youth Services department.
Duties include providing awesome reference and readers’ advisory services using a variety of resources, assisting with and developing programs that rock for children from birth through eighth grade and their families, collection development in specific areas, and several essential clerical responsibilities requiring attention to detail. Spanish and/or Polish language skills are definitely a plus, please be sure to indicate any additional languages.
