Reference Librarian

The Reference staff of the award-winning Des Plaines Public Library is a dynamic and hard-working team with big plans for the future.  We now seek another team member with strong reference skills, strong customer service skills and an attitude that welcomes change.  Candidates should have a fluency in computer usage, new technology and social media platforms.  He or she should also have a background in instruction and be excited to create and teach various library classes. A MLIS, MLS or MIS from an accredited school is required.

Preschool Outreach Intern

Are you looking for experience working with preschool-age children, performing storytimes, and playing a pivotal role in a library’s outreach team? The successful candidate will perform exciting storytimes for children ages 2-5 at their preschool, and encourage the children to visit the library. The intern will also facilitate a book borrowing program through the school.

This internship runs January 16-March 17, 2017, for 9 weeks, 22.5 hrs/week, Monday-Friday, 9:15 a.m.–2:15 p.m. with a half-hour unpaid lunch break. The nine-week internship includes one week of training.
