The Des Plaines Public Library is looking for an energetic and creative Youth Services Assistant to work 20 hours per week in a busy, dynamic, and diverse environment. Duties include staffing the Youth Services public desk to provide reference and readers’ advisory services, assisting with and independently organizing the planning and implementation of programming for children from birth through eighth grade, some collection development, oversight of our genre reading club, and other duties as assigned.
Spanish and/or Polish language skills are definitely a plus, please be sure to indicate any additional languages.
Are you looking for experience working with preschool-age children, performing storytimes, and playing a pivotal role in a library’s outreach team? The successful candidate will perform exciting storytimes for children ages 2-5 at their preschool, and encourage the children to visit the library. The intern will also facilitate a book borrowing program through the school.
This internship is scheduled to begin in early 2015.
