The Des Plaines Public Library is looking for an experienced person to provide reference and computer assistance to our patrons at the Reference Desk. The successful candidate will have knowledge of computers, online and print reference materials as well as a familiarity with nonfiction books and their organization. Excellent customer service skills are required. Depending on qualifications of the applicant, this position may also involve promoting the collections and services through instruction or selecting materials. Fluency in Spanish or Polish is a plus.
Hours: Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. - 1:30 p.m., Thursday, 4:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m., Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and every fourth Saturday 9:00 a.m. -5:00 p.m.
Salary is $21.40/hour.

Entry level part-time positions in fast-paced service oriented organization where you will be required to sort, arrange, move, lift and put away a variety of library materials. You must be at least 16 years of age. Please include all previous experience including volunteer work on your application.
Two year- round positions available. Hours are Monday through Friday, 12:00 p.m. -3:00 pm. or Monday through Friday, 3:00 p.m.–6:00 p.m.
Salary is $8.33/hr.

Duties include maintaining the safety and security of the building and responding to patron problems and emergencies. Must have High School Degree and two years security experience. Must have valid Driver’s License.
Hours are Mondays 6:00 p.m.–9:30 p.m. and every fifth weekend, Saturday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. and Sunday, 12:30 p.m.–5:30 p.m. Must be flexible.
Salary beginning at $12.24/hour.
