Feel the Music (one last time)!
Liz and Steph from Youth Services here! It’s hard to believe that the summer is slowly slipping away. Back to school shopping is in full swing, Halloween candy is already out, and summer reading has ended.
With our Read to the Rhythm program, we had about 1,954 participants from babies to 6th graders, who clocked in over 18,000 hours read from June-August 1st.
To celebrate reading goals met, and the end of another great summer, the library will hold its Feel the Music Finale this Friday, August 21st, from 5-7:30 p.m. outside on the library plaza.
The big draw this year is kiddie sensation Jim Gill and His Band, who take the stage at 5 p.m.
If you haven’t seen Jim Gill in concert, or you are not familiar with his "Silly Dance Contest", please check out the clip above. Jim Gill and His Band are wonderful at engaging kids of all ages with fun songs and rhymes that will get stuck in your head for days.
Be sure to get there early, bring your lawn chair (but don’t expect to be sitting in it for long), and sip on some lemonade as he wears those kids out. Don’t forget to join in the silliness as well.
Not to be outdone, we have two other musical acts following Jim Gill and His Band.
At 6 p.m., we have the 33 member Prairie Brass Band peforming and then close out the festivities at 7 p.m. with Rhys and Maddie. Rhys and Maddie was the runner up in the Fan Favorite category at this year’s awesome Battle of the Bands Competition.
Thank you to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring the musical performances, photo booth, and airbrush tattoos. Lemonade was provided by NorthShore University Health System.
