Our library's motto, "Work. Learn. Play." is abundantly present in our events and class offerings. We strive to keep these events interesting, entertaining, and useful to the community. Last week, we upgraded our online calendar to help you discover a new range of library program offerings.

Do you love the library? Are you looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity in Des Plaines?
Two library board trustee positions are coming to an end in June.
One is a three-year full term and one is a two-year replacement-term position.
We are compiling a list of possible candidates to submit to Mayor Matt Bogusz for consideration to fill those vacant seats. Unlike some other communities where trustees are elected, DPPL trustee positions are mayoral appointments. If you would like to be considered:
Please send a cover letter and resume/vita to library board president Dr. Greg Sarlo, at firstname.lastname@example.org and Des Plaines Mayor Matt Bogusz email@example.com by Friday May 12, 2017.
DPPL board members must be residents of incorporated Des Plaines.
Did you know the library delivers materials to folks in nursing homes, retirement facilities and rehab centers?
We even deliver to folks in their homes if they are unable to get to the library due to health or disability. Once a month they receive a bag of books, movies, and/or music.
We'll bring anything the library offers, all personally selected for them based on their tastes and preferences. It’s like Christmas comes every month.
