Teen events
We offer great programs for teens, from Anime Club to SAT and ACT preparation. Be sure to check out the calendar for new and upcoming events.
Anime Club
For teens in 7th–12th grade. Anime Club is for teens who want to get together with other fans of anime and manga. Join us to watch your favorite anime, read and discuss manga, create your own artwork, and treat yourself to some Japanese snacks. Meets one Tuesday a month from 4-5 in The Commons.
Teen Summer Concert @ the Taste of Des Plaines
Are you a solo musician or in a band? The Taste of Des Plaines is a great opportunity for you to play on stage with a live audience at a great outdoor music event. E-mail us at teen@dppl.org if you or your band are interested in playing!
Happy Notes
For teens in 7th-12th grade. One Thursday a month from 4-5pm (or any amount of time you can give) during the school year. Make cards for kids in the hospital. We supply the materials and suggested messages—you supply your creativity and energy. Meets in The Commons.
Teen Advisory Board (TAB)
For teens in grades 7-12. TAB is where teens come to tell us librarians what the library should be doing for teens like you, all while earning service hours. Meets one Thursday a month from 4-5. TAB members also volunteer at the library as needed. Feel free to drop in! Registration is not required.
Happy Tails
Use fleece to make a dog toy that will be donated to animal shelters and rescues. This drop-in program is a great way to help animals and earn service credit hours. Just like Happy Notes, drop-in for the full time or even just 30 minutes--up to you. For 7th-12th graders.
