Kids & Parents
Did you miss the Party? Never fear!
Back in the fall of 2020, we decided that we wanted to create a program to celebrate the popular characters and stories that the children of Des Plaines were checking out during the pandemic.
But, this program had to happen with both of us SAFELY in a room together.
And on zoom.
If you missed them then, you are in luck!
Find and stream recordings of all of the them here, now!
The Character Party program was born from our need to think outside of the box to showcase the stories in a different way.
For Mother Bruce, we presented the story via Hoopla (be sure to check out Hoopla for great book, music, and movie materials).
For the other characters, we got Miss Esli on board with her mad editing skills, and set about creating fun storytime videos we could show during our program.
We used felt pieces for Elephant and Piggie (thank you, Meg)!.
For Pete the Cat: I Love My White Shoes, we acted out the story with props (and yes, the water is real!). That is Miss Elizabeth on the vocals!
Lastly, for The Bad Seed, we used interactive elements to bring the story alive, along with sound effects.
As you can see, it was truly a library team effort!
So, be sure to check out the videos. We hope you have as much fun watching as we had making them!
And please check out our calendar for future character parties in the fall!
