Test proctoring
We're glad to serve as a proctoring site for your professional or student examination. Contact us at help@dppl.org if you have questions or want to set up an exam. Here's what you need to know:
What does test proctoring cost?
Nothing! Our test proctoring service is free! However, you must have a Des Plaines Public Library card in order to use this service.
Scheduling your exam
Beginning January 2024, you must contact us at least TWO weeks before you need to take your exam.
Test proctoring is available:
- By appointment only on weekdays
- No earlier than 10:30am, and must end by 8:30pm
You must confirm in writing that you got instructor or institution approval to take the exam even though library staff will not stay in the room with you for the exam.
Please note: If you do not confirm your testing date and time, or do confirm and do not show up, we will decline proctoring services in the future.
How test proctoring works
All test-takers must present a photo ID. All exams will be held on the fourth floor.
For paper exams
We can book a private study room (with a door) on the fourth floor for you. Library staff does not stay in the room with you.
For online exams
You can use a library laptop computer in a private study room on the fourth floor. Again, library staff does not stay in the room with you. If permitted (or required), you can take your test on an Internet-access desktop computer for adults in the public area on the fourth floor.
Submitting your completed exam
We are happy to scan and e-mail, or fax, your completed exam to your school or institution. However, if the physical test must be sent to the school or institution, you must provide an envelope and appropriate postage.
