Part-Time Teen Services Assistant

The Des Plaines Public Library is seeking a part-time Teen Services Assistant. We aim to provide a safe, engaging environment where teens can express themselves, explore their interests, and become enthusiastic readers and library users. The primary focus of this position is working with teens, but you will also serve adults. You need to actively read and have a passion for teen literature. Knowledge of trends in social media, movies, music and video games is also beneficial. You must be organized, punctual, and resourceful as well as provide excellent customer service to teens as well as adults. You will have the ability to work collaboratively both within the library and out in the community. Evening and weekend availability is required.

Building & Security Services Manager

The Des Plaines Public Library offers an exciting opportunity for an individual with experience in facilities management. Our library is twenty years old, 82,000 square feet and enjoys more than 400,000 visitors every year. The successful candidate will have experience with operating and maintaining a similarly-sized building. Patron Accounts Assistant - 20 hour

Two Part-time Youth Services Assistants (15 hours each)

The Des Plaines Public Library is looking for two energetic Youth Services Assistants practiced in public service to work in a busy, dynamic, and diverse environment. Primary duties include: staffing the Youth Services public desk to provide reference and readers’ advisory services, assisting patrons with participation in our many programs and activities, managing some areas of the collection, participating in our Summer Reading Challenge committees, attending monthly department and library meetings, and planning and executing or hosting programs.

Spanish and/or Polish language skills are definitely a plus, but please be sure to indicate any additional languages. The local school district reports over 60 different languages are spoken in our community’s homes.
