In his long-awaited memoir, the Boss vividly recounts his journey from an awkward kid growing up in the suburbs of New Jersey to one of rock music's most respected songwriters and enduring performers. Chapter and Verse by Bruce Springsteen. This career-spanning compilation, released in conjunction with his memoir, contains some of Bruce's most autobiographical and iconic songs as well as some rare, raw recordings of his pre-fame garage bands The Castiles and Steel Mill. We have this title as a CD, and cardholders can also stream it today or download it (5 tracks per week) from Freegal.
Western Stars by Bruce Springsteen. His most recent studio album, released last year, is a nuanced song cycle that pairs thoughtful character studies of American travelers with expansive, country-tinged arrangements. The Promise: The Making of Darkness On The Edge Of Town. This revealing documentary captures the E Street Band in the mid-70's hard at work crafting one of their most enduring albums. The contemporary interviews with Bruce offer insight into his creative process (including a peek into his fabled songwriting notebooks). Available at DPPL as a DVD, along with a companion CD of songs that didn't make the final album.
Live In Barcelona. Bruce's reputation as a tireless live performer is in full evidence in this 3-hour performance recorded in 2002 during The Rising tour. Available at DPPL as a DVD.
