The Bad Dog Blues

Troubleshooting the family dog’s problem behaviors can completely derail your thoughts, time, and budget.

In fact, I had a whole different blog post planned for today, but I just couldn’t find the words.

I can't think straight because my dog has just started chewing up shoes, papers, Legos, and the occasional headlamp.

She’s in her second round of obedience training and we’ve already worked though house training, pulling on the leash, nipping, whining, and running away. I thought she was happy and had finally settled down. So this new bout of destructive chewing has me at a loss.

Where can a pet owner turn when Rover won’t behave? (or in my case, a beautiful 60-pound Collie mix named Arcee)

How Do You Measure Up? Measuring by Animal

Animals provide lots of fun discussions about sounds and colors, but height is another way to look at animals too. 

This month at the Des Plaines Public Library, we are exploring the idea of measurement using animals.  Come check out our alcove area on the second floor, where we invite kids to mark how tall they are and compare their heights to actual sizes of animals and other kids.
