Happening at the library
This summer, more than a thousand people contributed to our community art project! Together, we transformed the giant letters on the third floor from blank white to confetti-colorful. Come see the finished piece through the north windows of the library lobby.
DPPL On Demand
A Playaway is an audiobook that comes on a small, easy-to-use portable device. All you need is a set of headphones, earbuds or a speaker to plug in and listen.
You may have seen thse orange Playaway cases on the 2nd and 3rd floors of the library and wondered about them.
Spotlight
Des Plaines Public Library trustees have approved a 2022 budget including a $300,000 expenditure to replace a 21-year-old chiller system and increasing the property tax levy to $6.4 million, from $6.1 million in 2021.

The current chiller system is beyond its expected lifecycle and is in urgent need of replacement.
It regularly breaks down, stops cooling, and creates potentially hazardous conditions in the building for residents and staff.
