Summer Recipes and Reading with Kids
With our Summer Reading Club coming to an end, keep your kids reading by showing stories can come to life with a little imagination. How? Start by cooking!
Cooking is a multidimensional activity that deceptively allows kids to work on reading, math, science, and exercise virtues such as patience and kindness.
As a parent I enjoy this hands on rich learning experience which rewards deliciously. Mix it up to continue reading any day by pairing up a story and a recipe; some suggestions to start with are below.
After your visit to the library to check out these recommendations, walk a few steps outside to enjoy the Des Plaines Farmer’s Market, Fridays, 3 - 7 pm until October 16th for fresh produce and more.
