Special Interests are Transparent on the 4th floor.

We know everyone loves the new book section. Not only are the books fresh, but the section is smaller and approachable. We have recently created special interest displays on the 4th floor that have been curated with the same principles in mind.

Just try to browse our new politics display or cookbook display and NOT check something out.

Book display

A glimpse of the cookbook display around the corner from politics.

Acquiring books in this political season has been fun and challenging as we try to purchase broadly and fairly. Bestseller lists and industry journals point us in the right direction or should I say, correct direction. Occasionally, though, a book just becomes available for sale without any warning. As I recall, this was the situation for Crippled America by Donald Trump and Crisis of Character by Gary Byrne. And regarding Crippled America beware it has been reissued with the same content but a different title - Great Again.

Our political display also showcases political biographies. Get past the outlines and grab an in-depth history of FDR, Nixon, Reagan, or maybe read about Cory Booker (a future presidential contender?)

Evaluating the presidential race is an important endeavor and we'll help with sources and voting information at the reference desk, but here are a few lighter suggestions.

Beltway Bible

The Beltway Bible, is every citizen's must-have owner's manual. Arranged from A to Z, The Beltway Bible provides an insider's perspective of politics and government, breaking down both into easily-digested entries on subjects like how legislation is formed, the scope of the president's power and an overview of federal agencies

Year of Voting

The Year of Voting Dangerously

by Maureen Dowd

In this perilous and shocking campaign season, The New York Times columnist traces the psychologies and pathologies in one of the nastiest and most significant battles of the sexes ever. The Year of Voting Dangerously features Dowd's trademark cocktail of wry humor and acerbic analysis in dispatches from the political madhouse.

Politics is a Joke

Politics Is a Joke

Politics Is a Joke! looks at the impact of political humor on political institutions, politicians, their policies and performance, and the behavior of the voting public.
