Storytimes and Programs Galore!

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls! I am proud to present some of our magnificent storytimes and programs here at DPPL!

Be prepared to be amazed and excited about these featured attractions.

Are you looking for a storytime that will be a great fit for you and your child but are not sure which one fits your needs?

What about programs that enlighten, inspire, and encourage learning?

Are you a young adult that is looking for a fun way to unwind and have fun?  

Look no further than this blog post (and our online calendar of course) to find the storytime or program that is right for you. We have so much to offer and we want you to be a part of the experience.

And now, please turn your attention to these short program descriptions:

Baby Storytime:

Help foster your baby’s love for books and the library. This storytime features books, singing, rhymes, and play. For children Birth-18 months.

Polish Storytime:

All families with children of all ages can enjoy Polish language and culture! Come to hear stories and songs in both languages and create something to take home. See you soon! Do zobaczenia!​

Family Storytime:

Storytime isn’t just for children – it’s a place where families can learn and play together. All ages are encouraged to dance, sing, and get silly at Family Storytime. Come join the fun!

Spanish Storytime:

It doesn't matter what language you speak.Come to learn Spanish words through stories, songs and crafts to take home, No faltes!!!! For families with children of all ages!

Toddler Time:

Storytimes help build a lifelong love of books and reading. These interactive programs for young children ages 18-36 months with a parent/ caregiver feature books, rhymes, movement, music, and more! Playtime starts at 10 a.m. This storytime takes place twice a week and Thursday’s program is a repeat of Tuesday.

Preschool Storytime:

Children ages 3-5  with a parent/caregiver can join the fun while engaging with books, songs, crafts, and activities as they build on to their early literacy skills. This storytime takes place twice a week and Thursday’s program is a repeat of Tuesday.

Tinker Tots:

What is Tinker Tots? A new program where young children (ages 2 – 6) and grown-ups explore together. There will be playdough making, fort building, and more. Drop-in for hands on fun for everyone!

Book Club with a Bang:

Calling all 4-6th graders! Love reading books and working with technology? Want a way to combine the two? Then Book Club with a Bang! is the place for you! Join us once a month as we discuss books and experiment with amazing technology…and eat snacks, of course.

Tuesday Crafternoon:

What better way to fulfill your crafting desires than here at the library! Join us on Tuesdays once a month from 3-5 to create, build, and paint.  This program is for all ages and is drop-in.

Maker Monday:

Build, explore, and create at the library! Each month will feature a different project that encourages creativity and innovation. Drop in anytime between 4:30 – 7:00 pm to make and create.

Art Attack:

Are you in grades 5-8 and in need of a creative outlet? Join us for Art Attack! Each month we will be making an exciting new project meant to inspire creativity.

Color Your World:

Need a way to unwind after school? Join us for coloring, music, and snacks. All materials will be provided. For grades 5-8.

This is just a sampling of the storytimes and programs you can experience and be a part of here at the Des Plaines Public Library.

Also be on the lookout for special programs such as Family Yoga, Zombie Prom, and Playtime. On behalf of the Youth Services Department, I invite you to come and join in the fun! We have a little something for everyone!
