The Best Of ... Words and Color

The many end of year lists propose their recommendations for the best movies, books, music, etc. for a particular year.

But, some organizations select just ONE item to reflect societal influences of that year.

Two of my favorites are Word of the Year and Color of the Year.

WORD OF THE YEAR

{image-3}British Oxford University Press’ Word of 2018 is . .  .

        Toxic

Recent past year choices were Selfie, Vape and Post-Truth.

Merriam-Webster’s Word of the Year 2018 is:

        Justice {image-1}

Perhaps a reflection of Merriam-Webster's American roots.

COLOR OF THE YEAR

Each year the color experts at Pantone select a color of the year.

The Pantone Color of the 2019 is Pantone 16-1546 Living Coral.

Which they describe as "an animating and life-affirming coral hue with a golden undertone that energizes and enlivens with a softer edge."

My favorite mug is in the Pantone 2017 Color of the Year, Greenery.
