Wee Artistes: Faith Ringgold
UPDATE: All the kits have been distributed. We can't wait to see what you create!
The July 17 Wee Artistes kit is inspired by Faith Ringgold's colorful storytelling paintings and quilts.
Want to learn more about her multimedia art? Good thing you came to the library!
For the final Wee Artistes of the summer, the project is to create a story quilt inspired by the work of Faith Ringgold.
They can pick up a kit at the Youth Services desk, while supplies last, starting July 17, that has a big cardboard square, pretty paper, ribbon, crayons, and a glue stick - and I know each project will shine with originality.
These projects might spark a tiny light of curiousity that start the "how to" process of finding answers to questions through online resources, and DPPL has plenty!
There is a great deal of information on Ringgold's page if you search Biography in Context, and while it is a lot of reading for a little one they might enjoy exploring the resource with help from an adult in their life. Also a great resource, Britannica Library for Young Adults takes you to a succinct biography of Ringgold.
For those looking for more of Ringgold's work, though, the best news is that this incredible artist is also an author, and we have some of her books at our library!
