Des Plaines Public Library’s $2.1 million Fast Forward renovation project, begun in Fall 2015, is complete. Now it's time to celebrate!

All ages will enjoy tours of the news spaces, live entertainment, e-demonstrations, gaming, refreshments and more.

GUIDED TOURS

Get the inside scoop on all of our renovated spaces. Tours leave at 4:30, 5:30 and 6:30 from the 1st floor Information Desk.

FOR ADULTS

5:30 – 7:30 PM
Enjoy the beautiful Des Plaines skyline at a reception on the 4th floor Terrace, with complimentary wine, light refreshments and live musical entertainment by the Diane Delin Violin Jazz Trio!

4 – 6 PM
“Happy Hour at the 3rd floor eBar” with free cookies, coffee and tea.

4 - 6 PM  
Meet the Expert: Zinio Magazines and ONEPLAY Video Games Demonstrations in the 3rd floor eBar.

Meet the expert:  Hoopla Digital – Comics, Movies, Music and More in 4th floor Forum

FOR KIDS & FAMILIES

For kids and families, Nick Davio from the Old Town School of Folk Music's Wiggleworms will be performing an interactive, social, and imaginative version of the family-favorite class at 4 pm and 5 pm on the new second floor Poet-Tree stage.

Kids will also enjoy "Hands on STEM!" in the second floor Program Room. Drop in between 5:30 - 7:30 pm to explore and create with science, technology, engineering, and math.

And while on the second floor, explore the new "Playpen", kids’ computer center, light table and other new fun ways to learn and play.

FOR TEENS

The Commons, usually an "adult-free" space, will be open to all ages during this event.

Teens are invited to "Tech Play" in the new third floor The Commons from 5 - 8 pm.  Members of DPPL's Teen Advisory Board (TAB) will demo the fun "techy" toys we use at Maker Camp: Spheros, I Am Cardboard, Little Bits, Cubelets, Makey Makeys and more!

Art in the Commons!  Teen artists create a large-scale mural masterpiece on our new whiteboard wll beginning at 5 pm.
