Because there is even MORE we'd like to share! Here's what the experts at DPPL recommend YOU read, watch and listen to this month.
It's December and we thought we'd take a look back at how the kids of Des Plaines celebrated in years past.
Do you recognize any of these fine young Des Plainesians? Drop us a line and let us know!
When the pandemic hit and staying at home became the norm for an unpredictable amount of time, library staff were full of thoughts from "how do we do this?" to "let's tell everyone that the library can be used from wherever they are!", and more.
As Program Coordinator in the Youth Services department, my focus went from Spring Break concert logistics and scheduling Summer Reading fun to training for Zoom storytimes and figuring out what virtual and home-based programming we could bring to our community.
We are looking after our patrons in many ways during this temporary return to carry-out service.
We have a lot of great online resources available to patrons with Des Plaines Library cards.
If you do not have a library card, you can fill out our online application from home.
We will process temporary cards while we are closed and you can come to the carry-out desk and pick up your physical card whenever you are ready.
We want you to get what you need now, so we have access to checkouts in Hoopla and Kanopy from 10 a month to 20.
We will also be keeping a close eye on holds and ordering additional copies of in-demand ebooks and eaudiobooks so that our patrons can get them faster.
