Finally, we had some clear skies above today as the Des Plaines Public Library added a color course to the Prairie Lakes Path.

Using the popular book Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert, participants can pick one of three colors to follow to the finish line.  Stops along the way require more than speed and agility, but also observation and recall skills.

 

Follow the thick yellow line and stop only to twirl while you look for someone with a yellow shirt

 

Follow the ZIG ZAG red line and then shout the name of three red flowers while you spin.

 

Follow the thin blue line and jump up and down while naming two blue foods.

 

Once you’ve finished one course, pick a different color, and start again.

Color recognition, gross motor, recall, and tracking are only some of the many skills you will be applying to complete these obstacles

Just look for the sign so you know where to start.
