We’ll share our results, our recipes, and a little bit about our chosen stories on this blog.
AND we invite YOU to bake along with us.

THE BOOK
"No one turns for home. No one looks back."
Those were the two rules that the pact was supposed to live by in order to figure out what really happens to the lanterns during the annual Autumn Equinox Festival.
The plan is to follow the river on their bikes for as long as it takes to learn the truth, but it isn't long before the pact is broken by all except for Ben, and (much to Ben's disappointment) Nathaniel, the one kid who just doesn't seem to fit in.
Together, Nathaniel and Ben will travel farther than anyone has ever gone, down a winding road full of magic, wonder, and unexpected friendship*.
*And a talking bear (Who doesn't love a story with a TALKING BEAR!).

THE MAKE
I made Rice Krispies treats before in the past, but never have they disappeared as fast as these did!
They are surely deserving of their name!
When I started my research for the perfect Rice Krispie treat, I wanted to find something that was simple, easy, and gooey.
I just LOVE a gooey rice Krispie treat, where every bite is a piece of marshmallow!
I came across cookiesandcups's " Perfect Rice Krispies Treat" and didn't think twice when giving this recipe a try.
I mean, perfect is literally in the title, who could pass on this! glad I didn't.
Website recipe came from HERE.
THE INGREDIENTS
5 tablespoons butter
8 cups, plus 2 cups mini marshmallows
6 cups Crispie Cereal
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt (optional)
DIRECTIONS
Line a 9×9 pan with foil and spray lightly with cooking spray, set aside.
In a large pot over low heat melt butter. Once butter melted add in 8 cups mini marshmallows, stirring constantly.
Once the marshmallows are just melted remove from heat and stir in your cereal and salt until just coated in marshmallow mixture. Now stir in the remaining 2 cups of mini marshmallows.
Pour mixture into prepared pan and press in evenly.
Allow cool completely before cutting into squares. ( I recommend 15-20 minutes)
Store in a container, and serve to family and friends!
TIPS & TRICKS
- For easy clean-up, run hot water in the pot after you pour the melted marshmallows into the bowl, allow the pot to soak for a couple of minutes, and then wash it.
- This recipe can be altered, it doesn't have to be just marshmallows, you can add sprinkles, crushed Oreos, and fruit-flavored marshmallows.
- When it comes to storing the Rice Krispies, either use a zip-lock bag or a container with a lid, no longer than 4 days... But I don’t believe they’ll last past two days based on how good they are!
- Eat while reading the book, you won’t regret it.
We hope you enjoyed this edition of The Great DPPL Bake-Along. Check back in two weeks for another delicious installment!
